The International Conference on Global and Ethno-Mathematics: Pure and Applied Perspective (ICGEM 2026) is organized by the Department of Mathematics at Dibrugarh University, Assam, India during 19-21 November, 2026. The conference aims to bring together researchers, academicians, scholars, and industry experts around the globe to explore the diverse dimensions of mathematics in both theoretical and practical contexts. ICGEM 2026 focuses on the global development of mathematical knowledge as well as the cultural foundations of mathematics through the study of Ethno-mathematics. The conference will provide an academic platform for discussion of innovative research in pure, applied, and culturally embedded mathematical practices. The event also highlights the significance of integrating indigenous knowledge systems and traditional mathematical ideas into contemporary research and education. By encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting cultural understanding, the conference seeks to strengthen international cooperation and facilitate knowledge exchange, thereby contributing to the advancement of mathematics from both global and cultural perspectives.
The Department came into existence in 1967 offering postgraduate and Ph.D. programs with a strong focus on research, academic excellence, and innovation, including NEP-2020 based five-year integrated postgraduate programmes. It actively organizes academic programs and has received major support from UGC (COSIST, SAP–DRS I & II), NBHM, FIST, DST, and DAE, completing several research projects and producing significant international publications.
